Death, JJ

The stars shimmer, like salt sprinkled across the rich midnight sky. My feet crunching under the sticks and stones the only sound, echoing through the misty forest. A few flecks of snow float from the sky, like cotton white flower petals weaving through the trees. I come across a lake, slightly tinted pastel pink. I hear what sounds like repetitive droplets. I peer across the lake. A fox. Its fur, shiny rich black with sparkles. Like diamonds. Its amber eye catches mine, I stand, captivated by this beautiful creature. Is this death? Have I finally lost all consciousness to reality?
